When I first set this page up in 2001 (after taking an expired porn domain) I wanted to work on my HTML skills and then in 2003 work on my PHP skill. By 2010 this was pretty much over and over the last 10 years I have left the site to rot. This coincides with career switching more to the systems side of IT. The experience I learned from working in PHP and websites has served me well in my non coding life as I have more insite on hosting than a lot of my peers. Why end the site now? Well there's a couple of reasons: 1. I don't really want to share my personal life with anyone. All my hopes for the internet are dashed and I'm a much more guarded for it. Don't get me wrong, I'm in a good place. 2. The internet just keeps getting crappier and crappier, no one uses it for fun anymore. It's about making money through hustling, scamming, or begging or it's about shitting on things people enjoy. I just don't enjoy watching what's coming through my trackers on the site anymore. 3. The final straw was PHP changing and depricating the methods this site uses at its core. These are changes for the better and I support them. I don't have the bandwidth to learn them though and quite frankly, I don't enjoy them as much as I once did.
So what's next? Maybe the site will come back one day. It might be a rewrite of my beloved DIY code or maybe I'll use something "off the rack". I don't know. I know the only people that will see this are spammers so I doubt it.
